New Zealand is a sovereign island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The country has two main landmasses—the North Island, and the South Island —and around 600 smaller islands. It has a total land area of 268,000 square kilometres. What is New Zealand famous for? A small island nation home to around 4.5 million people located in the Pacific Ocean, New Zealand is famous for its national rugby team, its indigenous Maori culture and its picturesque landscape. If you're an international student considering studying abroad, New Zealand may be a long way from home. 16 Foods You Have to Try in New Zealand Hangi. Let's start with the traditional Maori hangi! ... Crayfish. Crayfish, also known as lobster, is a Kiwi favourite mostly because it something many fishermen and divers pride on catching themselves. ... 1. Hangi Let’s start with the traditional Maori hangi! This involves meat and vegetables slow-cooked in an underground oven. Although it was a common cooking method for thousands of years in New Zealand, today a hangi is saved for more special occasions (mainly because it takes all day to prepare!) Prepare to be overfed but extremely satisfied at hangi meals as part of Maori cultural experiences. 2. Crayfish Crayfish, also known as lobster, is a Kiwi favourite mostly because it something many fishermen and divers pride on catching themselves. Known to cost NZ$80 for a full crayfish, it’s not exactly the most affordable food, but it’s definitely worth a try when the opportunity presents itself! Then you’ll understand why Kiwis go cray for crayfish! 3. Hokey Pokey Ice Cream Kiwis prefer Hokey Pokey ice cream (that’s caramelised honeycomb) over pretty much anything. If there’s only one ice cream flavour you’re going to try in New Zealand, make it Hokey Pokey! 4. Kina Ok, New Zealanders love their seafood so we’ll just hop straight onto another foodie delight from the ocean. Kina is the local name for a type of sea urchin with a hard spiky outer shell and thin fleshy (and edible) insides. It has been a New Zealand delicacy for centuries! 5. Kiwi Burger You’ll either think it’s weird or it’s genius! What makes a “Kiwi burger” Kiwi is the fact it has beetroot and a fried egg along with your standard burger patties and whatever else between two burger buns. Don’t knock it until you try it! 6. Jaffas Rolling onto the sweet stuff, Jaffas are a confectionery favourite among New Zealanders. So much so that they race them! Jaffas are small sugar-coated chocolate balls with an orange flavour to them. Once a year, you can enter a “Jaffa Race” in Dunedin where the candy is rolled down the steepest residential street in the world, Baldwin Street. Otherwise, you can pick up Jaffas at any supermarket or dairy (convenience store). 7. Pavlova 8. L&P 9. Whitebait Fritters 10. Manuka Honey 11. Kumara 12. Paua 13. Roast Lamb 14. Savoury Pies 15. Fish & Chips 16. Southland Cheese Rolls

Are you travelling to New Zealand anytime soon? Maybe even moving to New Zealand? From the people to the food to the weather to the COFFEE, this video gives you a little taste of what I've learned from three years living in New Zealand. Got any questions? Comment below! Are you from New Zealand? Tell me something I've missed!
Welcome to my very first youtube video, ever. This video shows a day in my life as a young adult, more specifically a 22 year old living in Auckland City, New Zealand. This is also kind of an Auckland City Guide and showing what to do in Auckland City. I started off my day by going for a run. I like to start my day off by running or working out, or just anything active as it hacks my brain into thinking that I have already achieved something for the day which in turn makes me crave that feeling and become even more productive for the rest of the day. I then got home, cooked avocado and toast with eggs and sausages on the side for breakfast. It was delicious. After cleaning my mess and the dishes, I took a shower to revitalise myself. I got ready, chose my fit for the day and left home. I went to the Sky Cafe which is in the Auckland Sky Tower. I often go there to study with my roommate in the morning, write my blogs, plan my day and just watch as the city starts to wake up from up high. After studying, I decided to grab lunch with my friend 🤍Misha. We went to Elliot Stables and we ordered Filipino food. She ordered Filipino Tocino while I ordered Filipino Longganisa. Their food was delicious, it gave me a feeling of the Philippines, very nostalgic. We then decided to go for a walk, checked out the Commercial Bay Mall by Britomart, and then decided to go to Photo Warehouse and checked out some camera gear. After a few hours of hanging out, I decided to go back home so I could work for a little bit and do some reading as I still had an eventful afternoon and evening that was about to come. At around six in the evening, my friends Jayden and Laksh picked up my roommate Anya and I, then we headed to Gogo’s to meet our other friends Romina and Serhat. We had an amazing dinner there and had some beautiful Asian cuisine. We had a little bit of catching up, a lot of chit chats and played some daring games. Overall it was just fun. We did not want the night to end just yet so we decided to go to JK’s World of Golf by the Auckland International Airport in Mangere, New Zealand. An hour later, we decided it was time to go home so we drove home and I took some footage of our drive home which became the cherry on top of my vlog. When I got back home, I decided to freshen up before bed, showered and then wrote my to-do list, read a book called “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck” by Mark Manson before going to sleep. Totally highly recommend the book. I hope you really enjoyed my very first vlog and I inspired you of a few things to do in Auckland if you are from here. Do not forget to subscribe and stay notified as I am very excited to take you on to more adventures that are yet to come. And I truly hope you have a great day, you beautiful human. Did you expect this in New Zealand? When you come to New Zealand, you'll be shocked to see gangs. Gangs in New Zealand are so unafraid of the Police that they ride obnoxiously loud motorcycles so you can hear them a mile away. They even wear a uniform which includes a gang patch, so you know which gang they're from. This is how open and obvious organised crime is in New Zealand. And for visitors like my wife, it's shocking. If you stay away from them, they won't bug ya. But the reality is gangs are known for the drug trade, murder, theft, violence against women, and the list goes on. "There are numerous gangs in New Zealand, of varying criminality, organisation and ethnicity, including outlaw motorcycle gangs, street gangs and ethnically based gangs. A chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club was formed in Auckland in 1961, the first Hells Angels chapter outside the US. Soon after, the Mongrel Mob formed in Hastings and Wellington, developing into a predominantly Māori and Pacific Islander gang and having the largest membership in the country. Through the 1960s and 1970s, other outlaw motorcycle clubs and ethnically based gangs formed, including another predominantly Māori gang, Black Power (not related to the African-American movement), which grew to rival the Mongrel Mob." from Wikipedia. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 1) SUBSCRIBE! ✔ Click 🤍 Then smash the BELL ICON so you don't miss a 🔴live stream or video. 2) SUPPORT THE CONTENT I CREATE & GET SPECIAL BENEFITS 🙏🏻❤️ Press the blue JOIN button or 🤍 3) WANT TO TRAVEL TO INDIA? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live on a farm in New Zealand? Join us to see if green acres is the place to be! For just over two weeks we stayed at a homestead in Rai Valley, a rural settlement in the Marlborough District of the South Island. It didn’t take long to settle into a daily routine feeding the animals, harvesting fresh fruit, lighting a fire and baking delicious treats for the neighbours. We really enjoyed the rhythm of farm life and, in between chores, caught up on video editing and home school in the peace and tranquility of country living. Rai Valley is located halfway between Blenheim and Nelson which gave us the opportunity to visit both during our stay for groceries, connecting with friends and watching some beautiful sunsets over the Tasman Sea. We also spent an afternoon exploring nearby Pepin Island which is actually for sale in case anyone reading this is looking to buy a private island in New Zealand :-) Some key highlights of our stay included daily walks in the scenic natural surroundings of Rai Valley, roasting marshmallows and making s’mores over the fire and taking an epic off-road buggy tour. If you are new to our channel, HELLO! Thanks for watching our video. We are Renata, Josh, and Gaia a Kiwi/English family, living in Auckland, New Zealand. Josh and I have always had a love for travel, and we did a lot of travelling together before having Gaia in 2020 (when the world shut down for a bit). With our borders being closed for the past two years, we haven't travelled with Gaia as much as we imagined, so in May 2022 we quit our jobs to pursuit our dream of full time travel with our toddler. It is only a few days now until we are getting on our first long haul (10.5 hour) flight to start that adventure. If you'd like to hear more about our plans, you can check out these two videos: Quitting Our Jobs: 🤍 Preparing for full time travel: 🤍 Josh & I are both probably a bit biased towards New Zealand, as we absolutely love this country, and feel very lucky to live here. We know that not all kiwi's have the same experience of living in New Zealand, and this is just our personal opinion on what the big pros and cons are. We hope that you enjoy this video anyway, and that it shares some insight on what living in NZ is really like. Negative things about New Zealand?? Thought it was paradise?? Don’t worry, this is just a part of my many experiences since moving from America across the world to live in this lovely country. In Part 2 of this series I’ll share 10 opinions about what is less than great over here when comparing living in the states. So many subtle differences! My fiancé, dog (Mr. Barkley) and I made the big decision a few years ago to move to New Zealand for a bit of adventure and to get away from the city. This year we are focusing on a more minimal, calm, and healthy lifestyle (hence the farm house in the middle of nowhere) in preparation for starting a family next year. I have degrees in Holistic Nutrition, Psychology & Hypnotherapy and I'd love you to follow along with us as I share some healthy habits and tips for your mind, body and spirit- especially if you are thinking of becoming a mama and would like to prepare.
